Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Japanese driving license to rent a JDM car in Tokyo?
No. We accept the International Driving Permit (IDP) issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention, together with your home-country driving licence. Some non-Geneva countries (e.g. Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan, Monaco) need a Japanese translation of their licence instead. Bring your passport, IDP/translation and original licence.
How does insurance work?
Basic vehicle and third-party liability insurance is bundled with every rental. We strongly recommend the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW, ¥9,900 – ¥19,800 per day depending on model) which caps your liability for accidental damage. A refundable security deposit covers the remaining excess and is returned in full when the car is returned undamaged.
Where can I pick up the car?
We have two stores in Tokyo: OnlyJDM Haneda Main Store (5 minutes drive from Haneda Airport) and OnlyJDM Adachi Store (north Tokyo). Both stores open 10:00-19:00 every day. Trains to either store from central Tokyo take 25-45 minutes.
Can I drive a JDM car on the expressway and outside Tokyo?
Yes. Most rentals are unlimited mileage within Japan. Popular destinations include Daikoku PA, Hakone, Mount Fuji and Nikko. If you plan a multi-day road trip we recommend booking 24-hour or long-rental tiers which lower the per-day rate.
What if I damage the car?
With CDW selected, your liability is capped at the deposit amount and damage is handled by us. Without CDW, you are liable for full repair cost up to the deposit. Both stores carry a full damage inspection check-in/check-out with photo evidence, so there is no ambiguity.
Can I cancel my reservation?
Yes. Cancellation made 7+ days before pick-up is refunded in full. Within 7 days a tiered cancellation fee applies. See our rental terms for the full schedule.
